Transitions

Welcome back my lovelies to another blog!

─ ⊹ ⊱ ☆ ⊰ ⊹ ─

Today, I will be demonstrating my knowledge of editing and transitions:

Fade

Description: I filmed this video on the phone in order to showcase the fireflies you can barely just see if you focus hard enough. The little balls of light are all the magnificent fireflies appearing right when dusk was approaching! I had difficulty filming this video as the fireflies are so tiny compared to the vast background, and it is hard to see them even if you focus on them. Alas, I tried my best to capture the glorious yet fleeting beauty of them. I am sure you noticed this but there is NO audio for this video as I had to edit the sounds of my family out from the video. The fade to black is used to separate the first part of the video from the second part as I change filming areas and camera movements. The editing part was pretty easy since the application I used (Capcut) does most of the work for you, PLUS I had prior experience with editing as this is not my first rodeo with video editing!

Dissolve

Description: In my second video, Luna is fervently eating her meal! Thankfully, there are NO background voices in this video (unlike my first video), so I kept the audio in. There was not much difficulty filming (also on the phone) as it was just a quiet, mundane moment (a very cute one, though). Moreover, I also edited this using Capcut (a simple process same as the last video), and I used a dissolve in order to showcase the passage of time (albeit a small one) as Luna finishes her dinner. The change in video orientation was just to differentiate the clips from each other even more, as the transition is quite abrupt and not as obvious as the other ones!

Wipe

Description: For my last transition, I used a wipe to showcase various scenes of Luna excitedly playing (the wipe perfectly follows the sweeping movement of the second clip, easing the audience into it)! One of my difficulties actually came from editing (once again with Capcut), as the second clip was accidentally filmed on the phone in portrait mode instead of landscape (technically, there were no issues with filming, though). I tried my BEST to edit it to fit landscape mode in order to make it seem more professional. Fortunately, it came out pretty well, and I do NOT think the average eye could discern that error unless I pointed it out specifically (like I am doing now).

Thank you guys so much for reading, and look out for the next blog soon!
